100 New Trees Planted on Campus

On November 2, the UMD Arboretum, part of Facilities Management (FM), gathered volunteers to plant 40 trees along Fraternity Row. Casey Trees, a D.C.-based nonprofit organization that works to increase the tree canopy in the region, collaborated with FM Arborist Richard Jones to pull together the event. Trees planted include elm, maple, cedar, magnolias, honey locust, sour gum, linden, and others - some with bright spring flowers and others with vibrant fall foliage. Casey Trees’ own team planted an additional 60 trees the day before for a significant addition to the UMD campus arboretum.
