Key Access for Contractors

Greetings colleagues,

We are happy to share that contractors now have access to FM’s Traka Key box at the Severn Building. This is the same system that staff began using last summer. The new electronic key management system provides 24/7 key access, increases efficiency, and helps secure, manage, and audit the use of every key.

Using the kiosk is simple and training is quick. Here’s what you need to know about getting your contractors started with the system:

  • Staff who manage contractor activities will need to request access via our online form before a key access card can be issued.
  • Once the CRC receives a request for contractor access, they will issue a key access card and let you know when your contractor can pick it up.
  • CRC staff will walk contractors through the process for using key access cards and answer questions when cards are picked up. We have also prepared a brief online presentation that contractors can use to familiarize themselves with the system.
  • The key access cards issued to contractors will provide access to the gate at Severn, the Severn Building, and the key box.
  • If a contractor experiences issues while trying to use the key box, they can call the CRC for assistance. CRC Key Control Staff are available in person 6 a.m.- 6 p.m., Monday - Friday for support. Instructions for how to reach the CRC outside normal business hours are provided at the key box.

Thank you for your patience over the last year as we have worked through the full implementation of this new system. If you have any questions regarding the process for issuing contractor key access cards, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Marie
