Subject: Summer Update

Greetings Team FM,

As we near the end of our fiscal year and move into the summer season, I have a few important updates to share. First, I want to thank each of you for your continued hard work and commitment to serving our campus community. Summer is an especially busy time of year for FM, and your dedication and willingness to consistently progress our goals is sincerely appreciated.

With the early days of summer upon us, the weather is already turning hot, hinting at what may be an exceptionally warm season ahead. As we navigate this demanding period, staff safety is more crucial than ever. Please be sure to follow safety guidelines for working in heat and know your personal risk.

The fiscal year 2025 begins on July 1, marking the implementation of our new budget with a $3 million cut. While this may seem daunting, I am confident in our team's resilience and adaptability. Together, we have always risen to challenges, and I have no doubt that we will navigate this one successfully. Our strategy for managing the cut includes reducing non-emergency overtime and delaying the backfilling of vacant positions due to staff separations and retirement. We do not anticipate any staff layoffs.

On the flip side, some happier news – a 2.5% merit pool and a 3% cost of living adjustment will also take effect on July 1. For FM, both COLA and Merit will apply to regular staff and C-II employees. Neither apply to C-1 staff or students. One additional change, new this year – all exempt bargaining unit members will receive a 2.5% merit for a "Meets" or better PRD rating.

Also in July, FM will celebrate Powered by People Month, which includes building tours and the annual ice cream social on July 24 at each FM location. Watch your email for more details, coming soon.

As we look forward to our summer activities, a thank you, again for your many contributions to the campus, to FM, and to your team. However you spend your summer months, I do hope you find some time to relax, recharge, and refresh. I appreciate all the time and talent you’ve devoted to making this last semester a successful one. Wishing you all a wonderful summer.

Sincerely,

Bob
