Subject: Welcome to the Fall Semester

Good Morning Team FM,

Although the weather this week feels more like mid-summer, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Fall semester. With the return of students and faculty, the transition from summer to fall is an exciting time to be on campus and is a perennial reminder of the importance of higher education and our vital role in supporting the university’s mission.

The successful completion of our summer project list is always a point of pride, and I am happy to report that we have once again achieved all our summer project goals. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this success. Thank you, as well, to all of those who helped ensure a smooth Move-In Week and start to the fall semester overall.

We are looking forward to a busy and productive semester. My goals for FM during this academic year include:

  • Completing our required training for the Workday launch on November 15.
  • Practicing our new Wheels Off Walkways procedure with ALL fleet vehicles.
  • Focusing our attention on service to our customers – both internal and external.

We'll be sharing more about these and other FM goals as the year progresses. In the meantime, please give some consideration to how you might contribute.

Also, please note the dates below on your calendars and watch your email for more information on these events.

  • Our fall All-hands staff meeting is planned for Wednesday, September 20, and will feature a presentation from FM’s Kris Phillips on the new Campus Facilities Plan.
  • FM’s second annual Powered by People Tailgate is scheduled for Saturday, September 30. We hope you’ll stop by for some great food, music, games, and a well-deserved break. We have a limited number of tickets for the game (Terps vs. Indiana) available on a first-come basis.
  • The go-live date for Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) and Finance is Wednesday, November 15. On-demand training courses, job aids, and learning hubs are available on the Elevate website. Please ensure that you and your teams have completed the appropriate training and are prepared for this transition by the launch date.

I wish you a healthy and successful fall semester.

Sincerely,

Bob
