Appointment of Bill Olen as Interim Associate Vice President and Chief Facilities Officer

Dear FM Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Bill Olen as Interim Associate Vice President and Chief Facilities Officer, effective with the retirement of Kristy Long on November 30.

Bill brings to this role over 40 years of experience in Facilities Management. His extensive background includes roles as Project Manager, Manager, Director, and since 2013, Executive Director of the Department of Planning and Construction. His knowledge of the university, its people and its systems, will be invaluable as he assumes the additional responsibilities of the Associate Vice President.

In his new role, Bill will collaborate closely with the senior leaders of Facilities Management and me, as we continue to deliver outstanding service to our customers in support of the university’s mission.  Bill will also oversee key FM initiatives, including the NextGen Energy Program, optimization of the Facilities Service Central platform, and implementation of the Campus Facilities Plan.

I want to sincerely thank Kristy Long for her dedicated service as the Interim Associate Vice President and Chief Facilities Officer over the past year. She embraced the Interim position, delivered on key FM initiatives and made improvements to Facilities Management. Additionally, she served as the Executive Director of Operations, Maintenance and Utilities for six years, making significant positive impacts to that organization, its mission and its customer service.

Please join me in congratulating Bill and supporting him as he steps into this new position.

Bob
