Announcing FM’s Interim Director, Project Management
Greetings FM team,
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Matt Lansberry as Interim Director, Project Management, effective March 1. This interim role will ensure continuity within the Planning & Construction (P&C) unit following Dan Pierce’s retirement.
The Director of Project Management oversees the selection and management of design and construction contracts for projects delivered through the USM Service Center at College Park and seven additional USM campuses across the state. The role is responsible for project delivery, construction management, and day-to-day execution across a diverse portfolio of capital and renovation projects.
Matt most recently served as Assistant Director of Project Management and brings nearly 13 years of progressive experience within P&C. During his time with FM, he has advanced through roles of increasing responsibility, managing complex, high-profile capital projects and supporting oversight of project management teams. In the assistant director role, he has worked closely with department leadership on workload planning, staff coordination, and executive briefings, helping ensure projects remain aligned with institutional priorities.
Matt’s deep knowledge of our processes, teams, and stakeholders positions him well to provide continuity and steady direction during this interim period.
I also want to recognize Dan Pierce for 17 years of service to FM in the P&C unit and for his leadership as Director of Project Management. In addition to his many contributions to the department and the university, Dan has been a valued colleague and friend. We wish him all the best in his retirement.
