A note from Kristy

Dear FM Team,

I am reaching out today to share some news with you. As many of you know, I’ve been working remotely and on partial FMLA while undergoing this latest round of cancer treatment. After much reflection, I’ve made the decision to retire from the university to care for my health and spend meaningful time with my family. My last day will be November 30.

This was not an easy decision. Serving Facilities Management—and the university as a whole—has been one of the great privileges of my career. I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done together and of the people who show up every day to keep this campus running. You are truly the heart of FM.

Through November, I will continue in my current role, with senior leadership providing additional assistance when needed. Plans for leadership coverage following my departure are being discussed, and more information will be shared as it becomes available. In the meantime, we will begin the process of hiring the Executive Director of Operations, Maintenance & Utilities position to ensure continuity and momentum.

FM is in strong hands, and I have full confidence in our current leaders and staff. As you know, Rob Hermstein has been serving capably as OM&U's Interim Executive Director and will continue in that role until a permanent Executive Director is selected. FM’s executive leaders — Rob, Ken Riebert, Bill Olen, Bob Pils, and Aynsley Toews — will continue to support me in the daily leadership of FM and in managing our external relationships, including our response to divisional and campus-level matters. I’m grateful to the Executive Team for their continued leadership.

Thanks to each of you for all your support and well wishes, your commitment to FM, and the care you bring to your work every day. I’m grateful to have been part of this community.

With appreciation,

Kristy
