Season's Greetings from the Interim AVP
Greetings Team FM,
As I step into the Interim AVP role, I want to share how honored I am to serve Facilities Management and how much I appreciate the warm welcome you’ve given me. FM is built on the strength of its people, and I’m looking forward to supporting the important work you do across campus.
In spite of transition, budget cuts, and other challenges, we have accomplished a lot this year across all of FM. Whether you work behind the scenes, out on campus, or directly with our customers, I hope you feel proud knowing that your work strengthens the university and helps move our mission forward. As most of campus prepares to leave for winter break, I want to acknowledge the FM staff who will be here keeping things moving while campus is quiet. I truly appreciate your commitment.
Early in the new year, I’ll share more about our path forward, and I’m looking forward to visiting your buildings, shops, and work locations to learn more about your work firsthand. After the holidays, we’ll have time to talk about what’s ahead—the challenges, the budget realities, and the priorities we’ll need to take on together. For now, let’s take a breath and appreciate each other and the talent and teamwork that make FM a great place to work.
Whatever you have planned for the holidays, I hope you find time to relax, recharge, and spend time with the people who matter most to you. I also know this time of year isn’t easy for everyone, so please take care of yourselves and each other.
Thank you again for all that you do for FM and the whole UMD community. I wish you and your loved ones a safe, joyful, and restorative holiday season.
Sincerely,
Bill
