Winter weather emergency, January 24,2026 - January 26, 2026
FM team and colleagues,
A snow emergency event will begin at 6pm on Saturday, January 24, 2026 and is expected to be in effect for several days. FM staff designated as essential for weather/other are to report as follows:
Landscape Services Night Shift: Report at 6pm on Saturday, January 24, 2026 for an expected 12 hour shift ending at 6am on Sunday, January 25.
Landscape Services Day Shift: Report for duty at 6:00am on Sunday, January 25, 2026 and enter Snow Command operations in Strike Team organization for an expected 12 hour shift ending at 6:00pm.
ICA essential staff: Report as scheduled per your supervisor's direction.
Building Services Supervisors: essential reporting needs including potential snow duties for Monday will be updated on Sunday by 4pm.
OM&U and B&LM Shop personnel without a Strike Team/Snow Zone assignment or predetermined shift: essential reporting needs including potential snow duties will be updated on Sunday by 4pm.
FM Essential-Catastrophic Shop personnel: As always, check with appropriate supervisors for assignment.
Based on the current forecast, a major snow event will arrive on Saturday evening and conclude Monday morning. Significant accumulations of snow (10-24")with potential freezing rain and sleet are expected and will make travel difficult. Precautions for significant wind chills are necessary. Effective immediately, state vehicles may begin moving into any campus parking garage. Drivers should park on covered levels. Please avoid garage roofs, ADA spaces, and electric vehicle charging stations. Vehicles not moved risk being snowed in.
