Dec. 17, 2024: Update Regarding DNCA Handling & Departmental Compensation

DNCA Destruction and Disposal Services
After a temporary pause in services, Terrapin Trader has resumed pick-ups for the destruction and disposal of DNCAs. There is no charge for DNCA services, including pick up, destruction, and processing; for FY25, all expenses will be assumed by Terrapin Trader.

Departmental Compensation for Items Sold by Terrapin Trader
For departmental NCAs and DNCAs sold through Terrapin Trader in FY25 (July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025), departmental compensation sharing is temporarily paused. Departments will not receive any compensation for the sale of these items during this period. (This excludes capital assets sold via the GovDeals auction platform.) We are evaluating the Terrapin Trader fee structures and compensation packages to determine compensation for FY26 and beyond.

We appreciate your support as we implement these changes, and look forward to your continued participation in this program. For questions on any of the Terrapin Trader services, please contact Jeff Flowers, Assistant Director, FM Logistical Services at jflower2@umd.edu.

1 NCAs are assets having an acquisition unit cost between $1,000.00 and $4,999.99, and any firearms regardless of the cost. NCAs must have a useful life of greater than one year.

2 DNCAs are NCAs that are desktop computers, laptop computers, tablets, cell phones/smartphones, and servers.Designated Non-Capital Assets (DNCAs) are defined as devices that store and process data and have a purchase price under $5,000
