Welcome, Tom Carroll
Facilities Management extends a warm welcome to Tom Carroll, who joins us Tuesday, Sept. 8, as our new associate vice president and chief facilities officer. Watch your email for information about opportunities to meet Tom at FM locations across campus—and if you see him out and about, be sure to say hello and welcome him to FM.
FM and SHIFT Websites Have a New Look
The FM and SHIFT websites have been updated to the university’s new website template. With a major transition like this, it’s normal for some pages or features to temporarily look or function differently than expected. If you encounter a significant issue, please email FM Communications at fmcommunications@umd.edu with the page link and a brief description of the problem.
Donor Support Helps FM Gardens Flourish
Staff from FM’s Arboretum and Landscape Services teams care for some of campus’s most meaningful outdoor spaces—and donor support helps make that work possible. A new $240,000 commitment from Dana and Bob Reisse will help sustain Andrew Reisse Park and support its long-term care. Read how philanthropy supports FM’s campus landscapes.
Parking on Campus This Fall
DOTS has updated annual parking permit rates for the fall and payroll deductions for the new permit year begin with the Sept. 11 paycheck. Also, be sure to check out the Fall 2026 overflow parking options and football game-day relocation requirements for updates.
Visit the DOTS website for details.
Get Your Workout On
September is Healthy Aging Month—a good reminder that taking care of our health matters at every age. UMD staff have a variety of benefits to support their fitness goals, including RecWell memberships at the student rate and discounted fitness memberships through CareFirst, UnitedHealthcare or Kaiser Permanente.
