Shipping Services (FedEx, UPS & DHL)
Departmental Shipping Accounts
The University of Maryland does not currently maintain a centrally contracted shipping account for FedEx, UPS, or DHL. Departments that wish to use these carriers are responsible for establishing and managing their own departmental shipping accounts directly with the carrier.
To create a shipping account or learn more about available services, please visit the carrier's website:
Each carrier offers online account setup, shipping tools, pickup scheduling, and billing options for departmental use.
Drop-Off and Pickup Services
FedEx and UPS drop boxes are located at various locations throughout the University of Maryland campus and the College Park area.
Departments may:
- Deposit eligible packages at a nearby drop box.
- Deliver shipments to a staffed carrier location.
- Schedule a pickup directly from their office or laboratory through their carrier account.
- Track shipments and manage deliveries through the carrier's online portal.
For the most current drop-box locations, staffed shipping centers, or to schedule a pickup, please use the carrier's website.
- Hazardous materials are not shipped through standard parcel services unless they have been prepared and documented in accordance with applicable regulations.
If your shipment contains hazardous materials, oversized freight, laboratory equipment, or requires specialized handling, please contact FM– Logistical Services prior to shipping at hazmatshipping@umd.edu. Our staff can help determine the appropriate shipping method and coordinate specialized handling services when required.
