Safety and Notification Requirements
for Construction, Operations, Maintenance, and Utility Work Adjacent to the Purple Line Infrastructure
Contractors must prepare and submit a Track Allocation Permit Request and site-specific safety plan for work in Zones 1, 2, and 3 adjacent to the Purple Line rails and overhead catenary system to the Facilities Management Department responsible for the contractor's work.

Minimum Purple Line Track Allocation Permit Request and Site-Specific Safety Documentation Schedule for Submission
- 21 days: Work in Zones 1 or 2 with no special operation activities
- 28 days: Work in Zones 1, 2, or 3 involving special operations.
Site Specific Safe Work Plans for Zones 1, 2, and 3 Construction, Operations, Maintenance, and Utilities Work Mandatory Elements
- Project or Work Activity Narrative (Description of Planned Site Activities)
- Site Footprint, Map, or Sketch showing the Work Zone Perimeter
- Zone Specific Controls
Zone 1 means for protecting/limiting contact or damage to the OCS
Zones 2 and 3-controls identified to limit work encroachment into Zone 1 - For all special operations1 work-include a site-specific safety plan specific to the intended project, e.g., crane lift plane, excavation site plan
- Identification of any additional engineering and/or administrative controls to ensure both worker and site safety
- Dates for the planned work, name of the contractor(s) and contact name(s) & phone number(s)
Documentation Review, Acceptance, and Transmission Process
Contractor must fill out the Purple Line Track Allocation Permit Request, attached the Site-Specific Safety Plan and submit these documents to Project Manager. FM Safety & Emergency Management or ESSR Occupational Safety and Health will review the Track Allocation Permit Request, all site safety documentation, prepare and submit the Track Allocation Permit Request, and relay the track allocation permit back to the Project Manager.

- Elevated Working Surfaces
- Material Handling and Construction Equipment
- Earthmoving, Construction, and Heavy Landscaping Equipment
- Occupancy of the Zone 1 area for greater than 15 minutes
