Receiving Residential Student Mail & Packages

U.S. Postal Service Mail & Packages
- FM Mail Services only processes USPS mail and packages for students.
- All USPS items are received at the Central University Mail Facility (Severn Building) and then sorted by residence hall.
- Delivery to residence halls occurs Monday–Friday only.
- USPS mail is delivered same business day or next business day after receipt at the campus facility.
- Letters are placed in student mailboxes upon arrival.
- Students receive an email notification from ResLife when a package is ready for pickup.
USPS Delivery Confirmation
- USPS scans packages when they arrive at the local USPS station, not when they arrive on campus.
- Campus staff do not scan or sign for USPS packages.
- Delivery confirmation to the university is therefore not possible.
- Occasionally, there may be USPS delays between the processing center and campus—this is outside university control.
- Once received on campus, packages are delivered same day or next business day to residence halls.
- After delivery, ResLife staff are responsible for distribution.
Receiving Non-USPS Packages (UPS, FedEx, Amazon, etc.)
- UPS, FedEx, DHL, and Amazon deliver directly to residence halls.
- ResLife staff notify students once these packages are ready for pickup.
- FM Mail & Distribution does not coordinate with these vendors for any campus delivery.
